In addition to administering the Safe Schools/Healthy Students grant and keeping the community aware of the activities of its partners, school-based programs are also underway.
One program is called Safe & Civil Schools. This program trains leadership teams from participating schools (Central, Glendale, Hillcrest, Jarrett, Parkview, and Reed) to analyze their data, assess problem areas on campus, and develop school-wide action plans. "Tardy Sweeps", implemented in the 2005-06 school year, created a consistent procedure for recording student tardiness to class. This program prevents late students from interrupting teaching time. Teachers at participating schools have expressed their gratitude for the program, which enables them to teach from bell to bell without the interruption of late arrivals to class.
