Safe Schools/Healthy Students was a partnership of eight community organizations who worked together to prevent school violence and promote school success in Springfield, Missouri.
What is Safe Schools Healthy Students?
Promoting safe and healthy environments in which America's children can learn and grow is the goal of the Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative.
Violence and substance abuse in schools compromise the educational climate and endanger teachers and students. The U.S. Departments of Education, Health and Human Services, and Justice are collaborating to provide federal grant funding to schools and communities like ours. With this funding, it is our responsibility to work together and provide comprehensive educational, mental health, social, law enforcement, and juvenile justice services that promote healthy child development and school environments that are safe, disciplined, and drug free.
